VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

Community Action House is proud to offer the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program during the tax season. With the help of volunteers, like you, Community Action House is offering NO COST tax preparation services to our community members who qualify, helping our clients claim the tax credits they are entitled to while saving an average of $300 in tax preparation fees.

Volunteers in our VITA program join us to welcome guests, prepare taxes & ensure accuracy before documents are submitted. Positions are available for those with and without tax experience!

First-time volunteers: 

1. Create your volunteer account (if you don't already have one)

2. Submit your information for a background check 

3. Attend trainings to pass certifications (Volunteer Standards of Conduct-Ethics Training and Intake, interview and Quality Review) provided by Heart of West Michigan United Way

4. Attend our in-person training on January 8, 2025, and sign our Confidentiality Agreement out of respect for our guests and their privacy
