As a part of the National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive, our local post office is teaming up with our Holland community to gather food donations for shelters, food pantries, and other agencies which offer assistance to those in need. This function serves as the biggest food drive event for our organization! On average, the Postal Food Drive collects between 50,000-60,000 pounds of food from local residences to distribute to partner organizations, including Community Action House.
We need volunteers to help sort the food donated by our generous community on Saturday, May 21st! Join us in the parking lot of the Devos Fieldhouse in Holland to help us sort. The shifts are as follows:
- 9am-12pm: Helping set up and sorting donated items (coffee and donuts provided!)
- 12pm-3pm: Sorting donated items (lunch provided!)
- 3pm-6pm: Sorting donated items and helping to tear down and clean up at the Fieldhouse (snacks provided!)
Note: This will be an outdoor event with tents, tables, and chairs. Porta-potties available.
