Help Community Action House (CAH) and Ottawa Food (OF) distribute fresh produce to Migrant families this summer!
Many migrant farmworkers and their families live and work in rural, isolated areas of the county, and work extremely long hours, leaving little time for grocery shopping. To build a more welcoming community, Ottawa Food & Community Action House are working alongside other partners to distribute fresh produce and shelf-stable items to Migrant communities this season. This is a great opportunity for Spanish-speaking volunteers or families to get to know the migrant workers who live in and serve Ottawa county.
How do you help as a volunteer?
During these distributions, you can expect to help load and unload food and greet and have conversations with farmworkers throughout the time there. The distributions are not only intended to give farmworkers increased access to food, but also to provide a time for community connection. We encourage all volunteers participating in this opportunity to be willing to step out of their comfort zone and respectfully and directly engage with the farmworkers!
